General Job Description: St. Anne's Episcopal School seeks a spirited and talented educator to serve as a 6th - 8th grade Spanish teacher within the mission and core values of the school. The teacher will be responsible for teaching 5-6 sections of Spanish, totaling 22 - 24 periods per week. Interest in leading international student travel to Spanish speaking communities and the ability to teach drama, computer science, robotics, and/or coach a sport is a plus. This position would begin in August, 2019.
Teach middle school Spanish to grades 6-8 with a focus on building critical-thinking and language learning skills with the goal of preparing students for high school Spanish II or better
Understand the fundamental developmental stages in the social, emotional, and academic lives of middle school students
Use technology to enhance learning and communicate effectively
Stay current on the best practices in curriculum instruction in Spanish
Share passion for the Spanish language and culture and fluency in the language
Differentiate instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior that is aligned with our core values: respect, responsibility, and compassion
Communicate with parents on student progress
Attend specific school events/activities outside of the school day and supervise as needed
Participate in curriculum and professional development and serve on faculty committees
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff
Attend weekly Episcopal chapel service and other assemblies
