Crane Country Day School, a K-8 elementary school on 12 beautiful acres in Montecito, California, is accepting applications for a new Director of Finance and Operations. The Director of Finance and Operations provides fiscal management of the school and is responsible for its non-academic operations. The Director of Finance and Operations provides the Head of School and Board of Trustees with financial information for making operational decisions and establishing policies. This position is a broad and sophisticated job with a wide variety of tasks, which include but are not limited to, developing and implementing budgets, preparing reports, overseeing the school’s lunch program, collections, insurance, benchmarking, and monitoring regulatory requirements.
Crane has a healthy annual budget of $7.0M, a $6.5M endowment, no debt, a staff of 62 employees, and is at full enrollment with 252 students. Crane’s business office is well staffed, with one full-time accounting manager and a full-time business office associate.

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA in Business or Accounting or CPA certification preferred
At least five years experience in non-profit accounting
Extensive experience at a managerial level, preferably in an academic environment
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
The ability to work independently, as well as with committees
Strong computer skills with an expert-level background in Excel and QuickBooks
The ability to be calm and proactive with multiple deadlines and complex situations
