The Churchill School and Center, is seeking an assistant social studies teacher for 2019-2020 school year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support Head Teacher by
planning curriculum, lessons, and assignments
grading student work and participation
taking attendance each period
maintaining website with course documents and assignments
tracking students' work and progress
developing critical thinking, problem solving skills, and tools to become independent, college-bound learners
breaking-down / scaffolding assignments
The ideal candidate has
BA in education, history or social studies (liberal arts majors welcome)
knowledge of and interest in Global history, US History, Civics and Economics (personal finance)
classroom experience or experience building positive, appropriate relationships with teens
knowledge of, or experience with learning disabilities
experience with Smartboards, Google Apps, and technology in the classroom
interest in becoming a head teacher and pursuing professional development in special education
patient and organized
