Ransom Everglades School is seeking applications for a full time, Upper School teaching position in the Science Department, with an emphasis on Chemistry. The successful candidate will teach four classes in the Department, prepare and conduct labs, contribute to departmental and faculty discussions, and be engaged in the life of the school. Specific course assignments will depend on the experience of the successful candidate, but Chemistry is a specific need in the department at this time. Candidates should be prepared to contribute to the department’s ongoing discussions about project based and interdisciplinary learning, the integration of technology in teaching and learning, and the modeling pedagogy, and be comfortable with the School’s value for inquiry-based, student-centered learning. The Science Department looks forward to occupying a new STEM Center, currently under construction, sometime by the opening of school in 2020. The School’s location on Biscayne Bay and its growing partnerships with local scientific institutions make candidates with research experience and/or experience directing original research projects at the secondary school level especially attractive. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Applicants must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in a field of Science; a Master’s degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
The mission of Ransom Everglades School is to provide an educational environment in which the pursuit of honor, academic excellence, and intellectual growth is complemented by concern for the physical, cultural, and character development of each student. The school provides rigorous college preparation that promotes the student’s sense of identity, community, personal integrity, and values for a productive and satisfying life, and prepares the student to lead and contribute to society.
Candidates should email a completed application (found on the Employment web page), a cover letter, a CV, and unofficial transcript to firstname.lastname@example.org. Finalists will be invited to campus for an in person interview and teaching demonstration, and will be asked to submit at least three references and/or letters of recommendation.
