Reports to: Science Department Chair; Head of Upper School

The Science teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual growth; and for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success. This position will teach several sections of Upper School chemistry courses based on the faculty member’s expertise.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Implements inquiry-based instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
Prepares course material such as syllabi, unit plans, homework assignments, and assessments ensuring completion of the curriculum
Provides students with ongoing and effective feedback about their work which includes group and peer critique, guided self-evaluation and criterion-based rubrics
Plans, evaluates, and revises curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction with guidance from the Department Chair
Maintains a safe laboratory environment at all times
Maintains effective and timely record keeping procedures using educational technology. ?
Communicates effectively, in both speech and writing, with students, parents, and other ?professionals on a regular basis through our educational management system ?
Uses effective classroom management techniques to ensure effective learning
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor
Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred
1-3 years teaching experience
Excellent organizational skills
Clear written and oral communication skills
