Saddle River Day School is looking for a full-time humanities teacher to join our community. The opening is for 6th grade humanities (Language Arts and Geography), 8th grade US history, in addition to one section of 9th grade history.
Full time teachers teach five classes. MS humanities classes meet for 80 minutes each day, allowing teachers time to present material in both Language Arts and Social Studies. One possible combination of teaching could be 1-section of 6th grade humanities, 2-sections of 8th grade US history, and 1 section of 9th grade history.
SRDS is an exciting place to be a humanities teacher. Our mission includes developing 'caring ethical contributors to society' and this provides many opportunities for teachers to explore materials, learn content, and develop skills that help our students to grow. SRDS teachers have an important voice, which provides valuable input for curriculum design as well as collaboration with their colleagues in grade level and department meetings. Successful teachers will be able to incorporate instructional technology fluidly into their teaching. In addition, all teachers advise a group of 8-12 students throughout the school year.
