St. Hilda’s & St. Hugh’s School seeks an experienced music teacher and choral conductor capable of teaching grades 1st – 3rd and conducting the 4th – 5th and 6th – 8th choral programs for our 2019/2020 school year.
Our preferred candidate would demonstrate an enthusiastic and dynamic commitment to music, display strong and effective interpersonal skills to motivate and engage students and foster collaboration. The position provides opportunities for teamwork within the music department as well as independent innovation as the choral leader. The candidate will conduct and lead the students in music concerts, an annual Christmas Pageant, and a school-wide spring musical.
A bachelor’s degree, conducting and teaching experience and level 1 or higher in the Kodaly method are all required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
Some lifting and carrying up to 60 lbs.

At least 3 years of Choral Conducting experience
A successful applicant will collaborate on the design of a dynamic Kodaly music curriculum and must possess strong skills in communicating with students, colleagues, and families.
Experience teaching the Kodaly method.
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning with other artist colleagues and a strong commitment to and respect for diversity and difference.
Applicants should have experience with and be open to a diverse repertoire of music and learning styles to engage all learners. A sustained love of music and choral singing in a safe, supportive, and student-centered environment. The ability to balance the teaching of high-quality music while encouraging joyful participation.
