Reporting to the Director of Facilities and Operations, the Maintenance Supervisor manages and assists in the completion of the day-to-day maintenance of all campus buildings and grounds, equipment, systems and machinery. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising the work of the School’s maintenance team, to ensure a safe and well-maintained campus environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manages the hiring, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching and counseling of the School’s maintenance team.
Responsible for designating assignments for the timely execution of all daily work orders, utilizing School Dude.
Meets maintenance operational standards by contributing maintenance information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems.
Evaluates functionality and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by conferring with operating departments; identifying problems and requirements.
Maintains function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by implementing a preventive maintenance program; operating and testing systems and equipment; restoring, repairing, rebuilding, or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts.
Improves function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by studying performance results; identifying, recommending, and implementing changes, expansions, and additions.
Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal codes and regulations.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Coordinates with contracted departments including; security, housekeeping, and landscaping.
Additional responsibilities as directed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Proven experience as a Maintenance Supervisor or similar managerial role
3-5 years of hands-on experience in one or more trades, such as heating/air conditioning, plumbing/boiler repair, electrical, carpentry, or painting
Proven leadership skills and team building experience
Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating etc.)
Knowledge of current health & safety practices and regulations
Understanding of department budgeting and employee performance management processes
Detail oriented with excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with all community members; students, parents, faculty and staff and administrators
Sense of humor and a can-do attitude, along with a desire to work in a mission-driven organization
Bachelor’s degree preferred, high school diploma required
Some night and weekend hours may be required, according to the needs of the school
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, and all types of weather and temperature conditions, to include snow removal responsibilities.
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; to climb unusual heights on ladders; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
