Part-Time, $15 per hour, 10 month, Non-Exempt (hourly), mid-August through mid-June
Sandy Spring Friends School seeks a knowledgeable and organized person to support multiple aspects of the all-school library program. The position involves approximately 18 hours per week in the afternoon, is considered part-time, and is not benefit eligible.
Prepare books and other media for addition to the library collection.
Participate in servicing and maintaining the library collection, including retrieving, shelving, and checking books in and out.
Assist and supervise students who are using the library in the afternoons, including closing the library at the end of the day.
Work with librarians on the creation of library displays, executing library inventories, creating library curriculum materials, and supporting other library program facets.
Qualifications and Skills: Fluency in written and spoken English; experience with library work in a school setting; high school degree required (bachelor’s degree in library science or related field preferred); ability to work afternoons; good interpersonal and problem-solving skills; basic computer literacy with applications, circulation software, internet searches, and email; detail-oriented, self-organizing, and self-motivated; experience working with elementary, middle, and high school children.
Physical Requirements: Daily desk work including computer time; the ability to navigate stairs and maneuver within school buildings situated on a large campus with uneven pavement; bending and squatting as necessary to access books at various levels; and the ability to rearrange furniture may be necessary in preparation for activities or events.
