Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a Long-term Physical Education Substitute Teacher for its Lower School for the 2019-20 school year. Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
Substitute teachers play a pivotal role in the overall education of our students. The Physical Education Teacher will provide physical education instruction for students in grades Kindergarten (5th Age) through Fourth Grade (10th Age). Contracted hours of work will be 7:45 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. throughout the school year.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with prior teaching experience and a degree in Physical Education is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in another content area with an advanced degree in physical education or a similar discipline will also be considered. Candidates must be student centered, energetic, engaging with students and have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
A State of Maryland and FBI background check will be performed.
