Purpose: The successful candidate is an outstanding teacher with native or native-like fluency in both Spanish and French and a solid background in linguistic pedagogy. Ideally, this person is capable of teaching all levels of Spanish, from level one through level five and/or AP, and novice and intermediate levels of French. This candidate is comfortable teaching 90%+ of class time in the Target Language, using authentic material from media sources and instilling in students an excitement and joy for continued language learning. The successful candidate is also a lifelong learner who welcomes opportunities for professional development and collegial conversation aiding in the development of effective communicative skills in the Spanish language classroom as well as an abiding appreciation of culture.
Qualifications and skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Spanish or French (or its equivalent)
Minimum three years of experience as an Upper School Spanish or French teacher
Experience with pedagogical strategies associated with Comprehensible Input and TPRS highly sought, as well as an awareness of trends and developments in the field of language instruction
Digital Literacy and proficiency in twenty-first century pedagogy
Commitment to participate broadly in the life of the school
