The Sage School (www.sageschool.org), seeks a passionate and experienced professional to serve as the school’s next Director of Advancement, managing all aspects of the fundraising program. This individual will report directly to the Head of School, work as part of the Senior Administrative Team, and will collaborate with the Board of Trustees on strategy and execution of the school’s advancement goals and initiatives.

The Director of Advancement will play a primary role in the development of a culture of philanthropy in support of the current strategic plan. Enhanced annual giving in conjunction with preparation for both capital and endowment campaigns will be the first priority for the new Director, as this individual devises a plan that significantly expands the donor base and allows for a more robust pipeline.
Work with the Communication Coordinator to develop innovative solicitation materials for all fundraising proposals and to ensure professional, data-driven plans for branding, messaging, and the look of all internal and external materials.
Oversee the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts of all donors.
Foster giving opportunities for potential donors, including the annual fund, mission-based restricted projects, and planned giving.
Partner with the Development Chair to set agendas for Advancement Committee meetings and work in conjunction with development committee members on meeting goals and establishing new initiatives.
Work with the Director of Admissions to create consistent messaging around philanthropy.
Attend all Board of Trustees and Sage Parents Association (SPA) meetings with the objective of educating and encouraging all Board members and volunteers to participate in fundraising and community-engagement initiatives.
Participate in Finance Committee meetings as needed to provide data around fundraising goals, expenses, as well as revenue projections.
With the support of the Head of School, provide updates and written reports to donors who have given restricted gifts to the School.
Develop new and creative revenue-generating strategies for the School, including innovative fundraising events that enhance the bottom line and build community.
Have prior knowledge of and manage the Raiser’s Edge database systems and all aspects of daily operations
Oversee operating budget for the Advancement Office
Coordinate and manage all plans to honor milestone employees (5, 10, 15 years of service…) and major donors
Create and present comprehensive reports for the Board of Trustees, and all Sage community members when applicable. Provide research and support for the recruitment and orientation of all new trustees.
A minimum of 10 years development/fundraising experience, in major gifts in an independent school.
Successful track record of soliciting and securing major 4, 5, and 6 figure gifts.
Substantial experience developing the donor base and demonstrated success fundraising for a growing independent school.
Extensive experience in implementing plans for fundraising and relationship buildings for all potential funding streams.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability to articulate and conceptualize funding needs in a compelling way that excites donors.
Bachelor’s degree required
