The Rye Country Day Summer Session offers middle and upper school students the opportunity to develop areas of special interest, explore new ideas, earn advanced credit, or review subjects that need strengthening. Summer Session is open to qualified students from any school. Students may sign up for as many or as few classes as they would like.
RCDS Summer Session is currently seeking an instructor for Precalculus, beginning July 1. The course will meet Monday–Friday, 8:00–11:00am, July 1–August 9.
The instructor must be able to clearly deliver a course of study in Precalculus that would prepare students who successfully complete the course to demonstrate mastery of the material and move into the study of Calculus in the fall.
Given the pace of the source, the instructor should be organized, clear in their expectations for students, and set learning conditions that will allow students to succeed with the material.
Thoughtful and efficient management of each three hour session is necessary. The instructor should be comfortable managing different methods of instruction and support, and offer individualized attention to the students over the course of each class.
Frequent feedback to students on their performance in the class is necessary. A midterm and final exam must be given and reviewed with the students as part of the course of study.
The instructor will also be required to prepare narrative reports for students at the midpoint and at the conclusion of the class.
The instructor should be comfortable making contact with a parent/guardian about a student’s progress and any concerns that may arise.
The instructor must maintain accurate records of student achievement and attendance for the course.
