Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School is a TK through eighth grade Jewish community day school. Its 76,000 square foot facility includes a gymnasium/auditorium, a library, a lunch pavilion, elementary and middle school media labs, an innovation center, elementary and middle school science labs, a music classroom and a newly designed art studio, playgrounds, and an athletic field. The school’s values of tradition, character, and community have been its foundation for almost forty-seven years and they continue to infuse students, faculty, staff, and parents with shared vision and meaningful purpose. Our academic program emphasizes the development of thinking, problem solving, and creative self-expression which reaches far beyond the rote mastery of basic skills. Modern approaches to teaching and learning, using technology, project-based learning, and an overall emphasis on student attainment of 21st century skills are balanced with incorporation of ancient traditions and values that are hallmarks of Judaism. The teaching of resilience, the overcoming of adversity, and the development of confidence in one’s abilities are emphasized, bearing in mind age-appropriate capabilities and individual student progress.
