The Director of Admissions will lead, manage and evaluate the student enrollment process – from inquiry through admissions to assimilation into the school's culture. Along with process management, the position provides creative oversight, in keeping with the school's mission, to draw, enroll and retain mission appropriate students. S/he must possess a thorough understanding of MCS philosophy of education in order to clearly articulate both what it is and what it is not. S/he will be a member of the Administrative team and support the Director in any aspect of his/her job that is needed on a daily basis. The Director of Admissions will work closely with admin on a variety of strategic initiatives to promote Montclare Children’s School.
Major Job Responsibilities:
To oversee the program of admissions of new students to the school.
To present the school to prospective students and parents, which includes systematic and efficient handling of applications and communication with candidates and their parents; interviews with candidates and their parents; arrangements for admissions screening; securing of necessary student credentials; and communicating final decisions to the appropriate individuals.
To oversee the admission office, creation of the admissions budget, and appropriate admissions and marketing materials, mailings and publications.
To organize and administer, with the Director, the Financial Aid Committee, the program for scholarships and financial aid.
To evaluate continually and redesign where appropriate all aspects of the
admissions and marketing program with the goal of maintaining a capacity enrollment of qualified students and a wait-list of qualified applicants
To manage the re-enrollment of current students for the succeeding year.
To oversee the network of parents, former parents and alumni to assist in the
To keep relevant statistics on all aspects of the admission and re-enrollment program.
To represent the school at various gatherings and conferences.
To perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
To support the school and its leadership.
Assist with Development events and activities where needed.
Work with Admin Team to review/update teacher and parent handbook and develop school policies. Work closely with admin team as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives.
Other duties as needed to assist the Director.
Skills and Training Required:
Master's degree in education or related field preferred. In addition, a minimum of five years related work experience. Interpersonal communication, ability to solve problems. Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing a recruitment strategy; Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills. Team-working abilities are essential.
Additional Essential Qualifications:
The Director of Admissions must possess integrity, patience, organizational ability, and have strong interpersonal skills. S/he must be an effective team member and support the School’s overall mission. He/she must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the capacity to initiate and nurture relationships with potential school families. Understanding of marketing principles as they relate to student admissions and the ability to long range plan and manage the daily details of implementation.
Physical requirement: climbing several flights of stairs during the course of the day.
Availability: Must be available for special evening events several times during the school year.
Must be authorized to work in the United States and successfully complete a fingerprint background check.
