Dwight School is seeking a Humanities teacher with an emphasis on Library Science and/or Research beginning in September 2019. This dual-role position would include Middle/Upper School Humanities teaching and Library responsibilities.
The daily responsibilities include:
Teach all aspects of English language, literature, formal speaking, and formal writing
Teach all aspects of Social Studies research, formal writing, and primary source analysis
Support the daily operation of the library for students in grades 6-12, including supervising students, circulating library resources, and providing reader’s advisory and research assistance
Assist faculty and students with the meaningful use of the school’s library, media, and technology resources
Develop and deliver internal library, media, and technology training
Model innovative technology use for other Dwight community members
The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Secondary English Education, Social Studies Education, and/or Library Sciences
A minimum of two years prior full-time relevant teaching experience
Experience working with middle and high school students
Past success teaching students with varying skill levels and learning styles
Experience with the IB Middle Years Program preferred
Ability to contribute positively to the community with patience, warmth, and humor
