Kaplan Nursery School of Sutton Place Synagogue (located in midtown east) is hiring an Assistant Teacher in our twos program, and an Administrative Assistant/floater teacher for the school. Kaplan Nursery School is a play based early childhood program. Our goal is to create an early learning community where a young child’s social and emotional growth and intellectual development can flourish. Our curriculum reflects the developmental level and needs of each age group and values the uniqueness of each child.
Administrative Assistant will be families first point of entry into the school. Administrator will answer calls and run a busy office (supporting Nursery School Director, Family Center Director and Camp Director) with managing paperwork, submitting invoices, billing, admissions spreadsheets, school paperwork and keeping files up to date for licensing (DOH). If desired, administrator can also act as a floater 3x a week on a add needed basis. This will allow this position to fully integrate into the program. Admin/Part-time floater position assists in all classrooms, and provides coverage where needed. This position is great for someone interested in going back to school, or making a career change, as it allows you to learn different ages and stages of children (2-5 years) as well as different teaching styles, and the full school community.
Assistant Teacher (Monday-Thursday 8:30-1:00 and Friday 8:30-12:30 (2x a month) 8:30-2:00 (2x a month). Teacher must have previous teaching experience or currently be enrolled in a masters program.
Assistant teachers participate in all aspects of classroom and and are given opportunities for development. Assistant/Associate Teachers are mentored by Head Teachers and Director. This is an ideal position for a recent graduate or a graduate student. Career changers are also welcome to apply, but previous experience with early childhood is preferred.
Full day positions receive benefits, with Assistant Teacher hours of 8:30-1, and two fridays a month till 2:00. Administrator/ Floater hours are 8:30-3:30, and 12:30/2:30 on Friday. Assistant Teachers applicants are required to have a BA/BS preferably in Early Childhood Education, or a related field. This is an ideal position for a recent college graduate or a graduate student doing fieldwork, or working toward graduation. Career changers welcome to apply, but previous classroom experience/ preschool experience essential.
Judaic background is not required.
Additional Salary Information: Assistant Position is 8:30-1:00 Monday-Friday, and till 2:00 on Friday (twice a month). While position is part time - from a benefits perspective it is considered full time. Health Insurance and dental insurance is included the first year.
