The Middle School Assistant Principal is an integral member of the School’s Administrative Team. This position is primarily responsible for the administration of Middle School Instructional Programs, supporting the growth and professional development of the MS instructional staff, and providing operational support to ensure effective implementation of school and division-wide initiatives, grade level programs, and community activities. This position also supports the Middle School Principal with addressing student conduct issues.
Key duties included:
Support and continuously develop an environment within the MS that focuses on upholding high standards of behaviors and fostering respect and civility among MS faculty/instructional staff and students
Create and upholds a safe and inclusive community for learning for MS students and staff
Provide leadership in establishing and implementing educational goals and objective for the MS and in evaluating the accomplishment of these goals and objectives
Implement and monitor the faculty evaluation and observation system in coordination with the MS Principal
Supports MS Subject Area Coordinators with the development of quality curriculum and instructional development for student
Oversees the coordination of the MS schedule, student placement testing, special programs and activities within the Middle School
Assist with coordinating faculty advisory assignments and other extracurricular duties
Support and identify professional development resources and opportunities for MS instructional staff
Committed to staying up to date on current pedagogical practices and school leadership-related trends
Qualified candidates should possess following education & experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required
Master’s Degree preferred (preferably in education or related field)
Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience in grades 6-8
Detail-oriented, with the capacity to effectively and efficiently manage numerous small and large tasks
Proficiency with Windows and Apple OS, Microsoft Office, cloud computing (Google Docs, etc.), and other productivity and media software
Working knowledge of technology systems, including networks and hardware management
Enjoy working in a cooperative, team-oriented environment
Enthusiasm for, and experience in, working with a diverse community
