Position Summary The Library Coordinator works with the Librarian to organize and supervise the day-to-day operations of the library. The Coordinator’s work is primarily administrative, but shares some responsibility with the Librarian for creating and maintaining a library that is welcoming, clearly organized, and functions as an academic hub on campus and online. The position requires both independent initiative and working with direction, as well as supportive interactions with students and faculty.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following) Administrative • Learn and maintain safety protocols • Maintain budget spreadsheets. • Coordinate library calendars • Maintain the library space, making sure supplies are stocked and easily available. • Communicate with vendors • Collaborate with Librarian on textbook project.
Educational: • Welcome and guide students in a professional, friendly manner. This includes recognizing and making the most of “teachable moments.” • Maintain a quiet, clean learning space based on mutual respect • Supervise and guide students in collaboration with the Librarian or alone when the Librarian is out of the building. • Communicate with and support faculty members regarding materials and scheduling. • Create engaging book displays for celebrations, great fiction, and research.
Collections-based: • Help students locate print and digital resources for research or pleasure reading. • Record circulation of all materials. • Communicate with users regarding overdue books and/or equipment. • Copy-catalog new materials. • Conduct yearly inventory. • Maintain communication with Head Library Volunteer regarding scheduling and duties. • Cover and shelve books as needed. • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications The successful candidate has one to three years of experience in Library administration and/or administrative experience. A bachelor’s degree preferred. This person has a proven track record of excellent work ethic, strong communication skills, and personal drive. He or she will be able to relate well with all PRS constituents and to provide timely and friendly service.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and database software.
Work Schedule: 20-25 per week while school is in session
