Full Time Following School Calendar Starting 8/1/19 Training dates in June and July
Provide direct health care services to approximately 500 MSL High School students and faculty.
Provide indirect care to students in grades PK to 8 by supporting and managing 3 additional full-time Building Nurses.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct student health assessments, maintain school health records and complete all required reports.
Respond to emergency situations in a professional manner. Maintain accurate and complete health records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulation. Revise and adhere to policies, regulations and procedures of the school relating to school health and safety plan and comply with building regulations and procedures.
Promote and assist in the design and delivery of health education for students and families.
Assist Building Principals in the interviewing and performance appraisals of nursing staff working in other campus buildings.
Collaborate with other school professionals, parents and, community members, and health care givers to meet the health, developmental and education needs of the students, serving as a liaison between school, parent, physician and community.
Possess the skills and Ohio Dept. of Health Medication Training to train staff on first aide issues including Blood Borne Pathogens, CPR and medicine distribution when taking students on both daytime and overnight field trips- offer an annual Allergy Awareness and Epinephrine training to faculty.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication, including responding to inquiries or complaints, writing speeches and articles for publication, and effectively present information to administration, staff, public groups, and/or Board of Education.
Acute pediatric experience required to write His and Emergency Action Plans based on diagnosis as well as ambulatory pediatric experience needed for recognition of school related illnesses and accidents, to include head injuries, concussion care, seizures, management of Type 1 Diabetes and Asthma care, as well as knowledge of the Ohio Revised Code as it pertains to: AED's, Epinephrine, Inhalers, Diabetic self-administration care, Immunization compliance and vision and hearing screening
Knowledge of local resources: Children's Hospital, CCGHD, BCMS, Local Pediatricians, Referral for medical and dental care, Epilepsy Foundation
Knowledge of ADD medication administration and side effects. Program development and program maintenance for annual employee flu vaccines and mobile mammography van on campus.
Work with approximately 30 to 50 International students identifying their unique immunization requirement needs and cultural health practices
Responsible to teach 7th and 9th grade health and human sexuality/healthy relationship curriculum previously developed by the school and update the statistical content annually.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret testing and survey results, financial reports, and legal documents, and prepare budgets for clinic supplies.
Must be a committed Christian who is comfortable working in Christian community.
Valid certificate/license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education; Certificates, Licenses and/or registrations as applicable to position duties and responsibilities and/or as required by the Board of Education- Prefer MSN but BSN considered.
School Nurse licensure and School Nurse certification preferred but willingness to enroll in Online School Nurse licensure program and complete program in 12 months considered.
