The Calhoun School, a leading progressive, independent, coeducational day school in Manhattan, seeks a full time Admissions Recruitment Manager to commence in the Fall of the 2019 - 2020 school year. The Admissions Recruitment Manager leads Calhoun’s recruitment efforts by communicating the school’s mission to a broad and diverse group of families, building supportive relationships with current and prospective families and working closely with the Director of Enrollment to meet the school’s enrollment goals.
The Admissions Recruitment Manager will report to the Director of Enrollment & External Relationships.
Communicate Calhoun’s mission, program and culture powerfully and effectively to parents, students and educators
Communicate Calhoun’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion work to current and prospective families
Implement and help develop a recruitment strategy informed by Calhoun’s enrollment needs, demographic trends and culture of education in New York City
Represent Calhoun to prospective families at school fairs and recruitment events
Lead school tours, interview prospective families and support in-house admissions events
Build relationships with prospective families and keep them connected to Calhoun’s mission and program through the admission and decision-making process
Oversee research, surveys and data collection and communicate data analysis to internal and external audiences
Design, plan and lead recruitment events at Calhoun and in the community
Manage communications and relationships with feeder schools, partner institutions, school consultants and the broader educational community
Complete routine reports related to recruitment and enrollment projections
Maintain communication with prospective families throughout the admission process
Participate in the life of Calhoun, attend school events and build relationships with teachers, parents and students
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Admissions Recruitment Manager must be available to attend events throughout the year—during the day, evenings and occasionally, on weekends-- to successfully promote the school and its mission
SUCCESS FACTORS/JOB COMPETENCIES
Clear, powerful communication skills, demonstrated in public presentations, writing, personal conversations and listening abilities
Ability to engage effectively and positively with students (age 2-18), families and educators
Ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail and deadlines
Five or more years as a communicator in an education setting
Experience with research, information synthesis and public presentation
Experience with institutional equity and inclusion work
Experience building institutional relationships
Experience working with databases and creating spreadsheets and presentations
Experience as a contributing member of a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Proficiency in Spanish or languages other than English
