Connelly School of the Holy Child is a Catholic, college preparatory school, committed to the intellectual, spiritual, artistic, physical, and social development of young women in grades 6 through 12. Teaching religion courses in grades 6-12
Participating in the school community with other duties as assigned
Working collaboratively with colleagues within the religion department as well as colleagues from additional departments
Pursuing professional growth opportunities to continually grow as a teacher in order to enhance student learning
Responding to the needs of Holy Child, including service learning, advisory program, assigned supervision and other duties as assigned
Active commitment to enhancing our school community through involvement on committees and in student life activities
Effectively and consistently communicating with students, parents, staff, and community
Develops, selects, and differentiates instruction to meet the needs of a diverse populations
Providing an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and the emotional development of young women
Works collaboratively with department to vertically alignment curriculum and teaching practices
Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
Integrates technology effectively into reading, writing, classroom practices
Teach the sacred Scripture, how it is expressed in the teachings of the Church, and how it applies to the lives of young women today.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field required with teaching experience in various levels of secondary education 6-12. Master’s Degree preferred in theology and/or ministry; MSDE certification preferred
As teachers and ministers of the faith, candidates should be practicing Catholics in good standing with the Church
Teaching experience at the middle and upper grades
Ability to connect to students, to curriculum, to the world
Commitment to embrace the school’s mission and values
Genuine enthusiasm, personal warmth and passion for teaching and inspiring a love of learning
Experience using a variety of pedagogical strategies
Collaborative spirit to develop and plan curricula
Proven experience engaging students in literary experiences that foster deeper thinking, collaboration, and shared responsibility

About Connelly School of the Holy Child
Connelly School of the Holy Child Founded in 1961 by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus as a college preparatory school for girls grade 6-12. The school is part of a network of 33 Holy Child schools in the United States, Europe and Africa, which is guided by the educational philosophy of Cornelia Connelly. Holy Child enrolls approximately 300 students every year from the Washington, DC metropolitan area as well as across the globe. Holy Child creates a personal learning experience with an 8 to 1 student to faculty ratio and offers fine arts programs as well as competitive sports teams in soccer, field hockey, volleyball, basketball, cross country lacrosse and more.
Service is part of the Holy Child curriculum and students last year completed 5,000 hours of community service.
