Live Oak is accepting resumes for a part-time Lower School Spanish Teacher to begin in August, 2019. Applicants should have experience as head teachers, professional training, enjoy collaborative work on curriculum development, and feel a commitment to the school’s Mission and Educational Philosophy.
The LS Spanish Teacher is responsible for the planning, consistent documentation, and implementation of the Spanish program for students in grades four and five, in accordance with the school’s educational philosophy and established scope and sequence. This is a part-time position and reports to the Assistant Head of School.
Primary Responsibilities of the Lower School Spanish Teacher:
Estimated course load: Teach the equivalent of 10 periods a week.
Engage in self-reflection and professional growth through goal setting, participation in the PGP program, attending professional development opportunities, and ongoing dialogue with the Assistant Head of School. Use Folio to document growth.
Collaborate with Lower School Learning Specialist, Lower School Counselor, Assistant Head of School, and Dean of Student Life in providing students with academic and social support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in lower division, Spanish department, lower school grade-level, and staff meetings as needed to accomplish the goals of the program.
Develop and implement robust assessment practices; provide regular feedback to students.
Prepare trimester report cards.
Guide student portfolio work.
Communicate regularly with families (write posts to class websites and Family Tree articles).
Supervise students during lunch and recess.
Additional Program Expectations:
Supports admissions’ work through tours and visitors, as well as participating in one of the Admissions Open Houses.
Participate in Lower School Back to School Night.
Participate in Camp Live Oak, if necessary
