Epiphany School, a private, non-sectarian, independent Pre-K-5 school, is currently seeking a Math Specialist Teacher for the 2019-20 school year. The ideal math specialist candidate will enjoy collaborating with classroom teachers to plan and deliver math instruction to students in grades 3 through 5.
Specific duties include leading classroom teachers in execution of best practice mathematics instruction, co-teaching and supervising students, consistent assessing and evaluating of students to drive instructional practice, and communicating with teachers, other specialists, academic administration, and families. Candidates must have a thorough understanding of mathematics education, especially the development of students as mathematical thinkers. Candidates must have demonstrated taking initiative in their own professional development and an ability to share their knowledge with others. In addition to these responsibilities, candidates need to have the knowledge and ability to implement practices of equity and inclusivity in the classroom, and harness technology to advance instruction.

What you will enjoy about this role:
Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and academic administration to implement effective mathematics instruction.
Teach students directly as a co-teacher in multiple grade levels and work with groups of students to provide enrichment or support services.
Consistently administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate learners’ knowledge and understanding; utilize assessment data to inform teaching practice and provide differentiated instruction.
Advocate for and support all students with mathematics instruction and learning experiences that are engaging, differentiated, fully participatory, and employ current technology.
Actively investigate and consider current education policy and research in instructional practices and technology to improve mathematics teaching and learning.
Engage professional, community, technology, and other resources to improve mathematics teaching and learning.
Formulate, assemble, and share information
Collect and maintain appropriate records of student progress; provide timely and accurate oral and written feedback to teachers, students, and families.
Communicate mathematical learning standards to students and families in a variety of formats and venues.
Contribute to student progress reports and participate in parent-teacher meetings and conferences, as required.
Collaborate with academic administrators, teachers, and other specialists to develop and revise mathematics curriculum to meet student needs.
Educate and engage families about Epiphany’s mathematics program
Participate in math curriculum forums for families to enhance their understanding of the math program.
Provide written communication about the math program through the school website, newsletters, and other communication vehicles.

Must hold a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in mathematics, curriculum and instruction, or related field, as well as a teaching certificate.
Requires three to five years of classroom experience, implementing teaching best practices.
Must have experience in the integration of technology in teaching practice.
Ability to multi-task and to maintain professionalism in a creative and changing environment.
Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills; good presentation skills.
Computer savvy in Windows environment including MS Office.
Must be smart, warm, motivated, organized and process-oriented.
