The assistant is responsible for assisting the Graduate Support Director to fulfill their responsibility for the overall design and implementation of the high school prep curriculum and graduate support program. The Graduate support assistant will perform administrative duties involving considerable variety and complexity of assignments that require independent judgment in applying guidelines to work situations. The assistant of Graduate Support upholds our core values and makes sure they are instilled in our students.
Provide administrative support for the department Director and President as needed
Prioritizes work according to departmental needs; determines workflow problems and develops solutions.
Receives, sorts, analyzes, and summarizes material for the preparation of reports; maintains up-to-date department records.
Prepares advanced word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation documents as assigned including flyers, brochures, reports, budget documents, and PowerPoint presentations.
Implement and assist with planning and teaching the 7th and 8th-grade high school prep curriculum
Meet with 6th, 7th and 8th-grade parents as a group and on an individual basis regarding the high school placement process, including but not limited to: high school options, the application process, test prep, and financial aid.
Assist with Family Institute, Back to School Night, and Family High School Information Week for all grades to familiarize families with the high school application process and graduate support program.
Prepare students for various high school admittance exams especially the HSPT, ISEE, and SSAT.
Oversee the scheduling and transportation for 7th and 8th grade shadow days (High School and WorkForce)
Schedule meetings for high school admissions representatives to visit WSG twice a year; one for an information session, and the second for our annual high school fair).
Cultivate relationships with external partners (high schools, non-profits, companies, etc) to expand educational opportunities
Communicate closely and regularly with high schools, 6th-8th-grade students, families, and 90+ graduates.
Manage communication through media relations, social media, etc.
Support the planning and coordination of the mentorship program
Help build positive relationships within the team and across both campuses
Oversee and supervise 1-2 SYEP staff during the summer
Bachelor’s Degree; and 2 years of progressively responsible administrative experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
