The Development Associate gives direct support to the Director of Development for all fundraising events and activities. This includes both the annual giving program and the annual auction, the two primary school fundraisers. This is a full-time, 12-month position. The hours, schedules, tasks, and goals of the Development Associate are to be determined by the Director of Development. The individual will work collaboratively with the Director of Marketing and Communications.
This person is responsible for the following:
Annual fund - supporting the Director of Development in achieving fundraising goals; preparing mailings; processing gifts; managing donor records; ensuring data integrity; developing reports; maintaining mailing lists; drafting and preparing acknowledgement letters; sending pledge reminders.
Auction - planning and coordinating the annual event; managing volunteers and committees; collaborating with the Director of Marketing and Communications to write and produce print materials; working with Director of Development to set and meet budgets
Alumni - scheduling and arranging any and all reunion activities;
Grandparents - managing annual event with administrative staff
Faculty retirement celebrations - organizing and arranging for community year-end celebrations of retiring senior faculty Additionally, the Development Associate ensures that appropriate thanks and recognition are provided to donors, volunteers, participants, faculty and staff; fulfills all other development outreach and appreciation events as determined by the Director of Development; and performs other duties as assigned.
Candidates must possess a professional level of knowledge of the principles of fund development, event planning, and volunteer management normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree and/or specialized certification course work in these specialty areas. Additionally, candidates must have skill using donor database systems and managing databases. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in fundraising; understanding of independent schools; and proven communication skills.
