Woodstock Day School is a progressive, independent day school located on a breathtaking 50-acre campus in the Catskill Mountains. Our mission is to provide a socially and environmentally mindful education from Nursery School - 12th Grade, valuing each student as an individual and as a member of the community. We have an opening for a part-time (15 hours per week) early childhood/elementary music teacher for the19-20 school year.
The EC/Elementary Music teacher is responsible for teaching music in grades Nursery School through 4th grade and to assist the staff of the school in the improvement and appreciation of music instruction. THe focus of the program is enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences which include singing, moving to music, playing of instruments and listening and performs other duties directly related to this job description.

Teaches skills in music understanding/appreciation
Plans/executes a balanced music program
Provides individual and small group instruction when necessary
Encourages students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible
Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary
Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments and equipment
Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required
Assesses each individual’s growth and contribution to the performance of the group
Cooperates with staff and faculty in providing musical programs for school events
Communicates with parents and school staff regarding individual student’s progress
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (music preferred)
State certification preferred
At least 3 years of experience working with young children
