About the Hebron Academy International Certificate Program
Hebron Academy, founded in 1804, is an independent, college preparatory boarding and day school for students in grades six through postgraduate. Hebron has recently partnered with the Yongkang Chongde School (YCS) in Yongkang, China, to found the Hebron Academy International Certificate Program. With state-of-the-art facilities set on 200 acres just 30 minutes outside of Hangzhou, China, YCS currently provides its grade 1 - 5 students with a well-rounded, hands-on education that emphasizes both academic excellence and personal growth. YCS plans to expand by two grades each year, beginning with grades six and seven in the 2019-2020 school year. Through the Hebron Academy International Certificate Program, Hebron hopes to share its long history of academic excellence with YCS's international boarding and day population.
The Hebron Academy International Certificate Program (HAICP) is seeking a passionate and energetic educator to serve as its inaugural Humanities teacher for grades 6 and 7. Responsibilities will include:
Collaboratively designing student-centered, interdisciplinary, and culturally responsive English and social science curricula for grades 6 and 7, under the guidance of HAICP's Director of Curriculum
Teaching several sections of 6th and 7th grade Humanities classes
Participating in other aspects of student life at YCS such as advisory, study hall, and extracurricular activities.
Bachelor's degree in History, English, or a related field that requires significant coursework in the Humanities (advanced degree preferred)
Experience working with middle school students in an academic setting
Excellent interpersonal, writing, and communication skills
An interest in creatively and collaboratively developing curricula
A passion for educating curious and responsible global citizens who respect and value diversity
Strong cross-cultural competency
