Manlius Pebble Hill School (MPH) seeks a dynamic and committed teacher of chorus and music. As the only prekindergarten through twelfth grade independent school in Central New York, MPH provides the support and resources for children to develop their interests in a balanced and engaging academic setting. Maintaining a strong choral and music program is essential to the School’s commitment to nurturing a sense of joy for music while cultivating talented artists.
Classroom duties include teaching general music in the Lower School, Middle School Chorus, Upper School Concert Chorale, and music theory for advanced students. The position comes with extracurricular responsibilities that may include serving as musical director for the Middle and Upper School musicals.
The performing arts are an integral part of an MPH education. Choral singing has long enriched MPH’s rigorous curricular offerings and, as a result, enjoys broad student participation. Working with eager students and supportive families, MPH teachers are free to shape their curriculum to the strengths and needs of their students.
Strong candidates will have experience working with a range of students in a school setting. A bachelor’s degree in music or music education is required; a graduate degree in either of those fields is preferred.
