The Accountant is responsible for all accounting and general ledger activity, ensuring accurate and timely reporting for both administrative and governance needs. The Accountant reports to the Director of Finance.
Maintain appropriate procedures and internal controls for financial systems.
Maintain General Ledger and all subsidiary ledgers using generally accepted accounting principles, including G/L account reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and gift reconciliations.
Download transactions from third-party payment systems (tuition billing and payments, online gift pledges and payments, summer camp billing and payments, etc.), prepare, post and reconcile.
Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
Prepare monthly and annual closings and financial reports for administration and board, with analysis as needed.
Prepare work papers for annual audit and provide responses to management-letter recommendations.
Collaborate in the annual budgeting process.
Maintain accounting procedures manual.

Required skills and experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or CPA.
At least 3 years’ experience in accounting in a school environment.
Proficiency with QuickBooks for Nonprofits.
Familiarity with third-party payment systems (Blackbaud, Smart Tuition, BidPal, UltraCamp, or other similar systems), and ability to devise useful reporting from them.
Proficiency with MS Office products.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
