Private Instrumental Music Instructors for Berkeley’s Conservatory:
Berkeley Preparatory School is seeking to fill several adjunct music positions in the Conservatory of Music’s private lessons program. The successful candidates will build and develop studios in their respective instruments and offer lessons during after school hours.
Candidates must show a strong willingness to receive feedback regularly, grow professionally, significantly contribute to the life of the school, and will be eager to work in a culturally and ethnically diverse environment.
We are currently looking for specialists in: oboe, bassoon, horn, percussion, violin, viola, cello, bass, and piano.
Responsible for collaborating with ensemble directors to establish, build, and maintain individuals studios
Prepare students for ensemble rehearsals, performances, and auditions
Support and instruct students towards confidence in music literacy
Encourage and prepare students to perform at Solo and Ensemble
Encourage and prepare student to audition for All-State ensembles
Ensure that all rules and policies of the private lesson program are followed judiciously
Work collaboratively with the Conservatory Coordinator in scheduling and recruiting students
Additional Opportunities may include:
Performing in pit orchestras for Middle and Upper Division musicals
Leading sectionals for Middle and Upper Division instrumental ensembles
Coaching chamber ensembles
Bachelor’s degree in music education or performance required
Master’s degree in music education or performance preferred
Compensation and Benefits:
The appointment will begin August 2019 and is a part-time position. The compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience, degree attainment and the national independent school and college markets.
