Turning Point School seeks a Preschool Assistant Teacher for 2019-20 to foster students’ intellectual, social-emotional, and ethical growth. Assistant teachers at Turning Point School are individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in education and act as a support for the Head Teacher.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work in support of the Head Teacher
Interact daily with the students
Deliver instruction as experience permits and is determined with the instructional team
Develop best practice, and implement long and short range plans for differentiated classroom instruction
Thorough and thoughtful review of classwork and work with individual students, as needed
Follow the Head Teacher’s lead in facilitating the social, emotional, and academic development of students
Play an integral role in preparing an indoor learning environment and supervising an outdoor learning environment in line with our whole child instructional philosophy
Attend weekly faculty meetings/extracurricular school functions
Participate in professional development
Maintenance of the classroom environment
Modeling of appropriate professional behavior
Perform other related duties as required

Desire to work collaboratively in a teaching team
Excellent organizational, time management, multi-tasking, and follow-through skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desire for ongoing professional development, particularly as related to academic and cultural competencies
High degree of professional conduct, including discretion/confidentiality, judgment, and integrity
Passion for his/her desire to teach and learn from young children
Willingness to take risks and seize leadership opportunities as they arise
Commitment to staying current with research on best practice
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
12 credits in Early Childhood Education
Experience in an Early Childhood setting preferred
