Congressional School seeks a full-time Development Associate to support the Assistant Head for Advancement and the goals of the Advancement Office. The Development Associate will focus effort in three core areas: database management, special events and all fundraising efforts. As such, the Development Associate will manage development operations including oversight of databases, document retention systems, gift administration, and the prospect management system. The Development Associate will also help coordinate and execute all advancement events at Congressional School and some Congressional School Parent Association (CSPO) events. The Development Associate will create and implement fundraising efforts such as The Congressional Fund and the Gala. The Development Associate must be organized, detail-oriented, creative, motivated and flexible, be responsive and open to change, and work collaboratively with his/her colleagues in the Advancement Office and throughout the Congressional School community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising and Database Management
Manage the production of reports for the Assistant Head for Advancement, including Advancement Committee reports, Board of Trustee reports and reports for the Head of School.
Manage the production of an Annual Report.
Prepare prospect lists, including a list of major donors, and compile research on each prospect.
Engage in strategy meetings around our calendar of events, prospects, appeals and stewardship.
Develop a comprehensive stewardship plan for our major donors.
Maintain and update all contact information in the database for our constituents.
Develop and maintain appropriate documentation of Advancement Office database procedures.
Produce all solicitation communications for The Congressional Fund, the Gala and other fundraising initiatives.
Manage the gift process system ensuring that gifts are accurately tracked.
Produce all gift acknowledgement letters.
Oversee document retention.
Reconcile all gift amounts and designations with the Business Office monthly and at year-end.
Manage the Gala from start to finish by overseeing the auctions (online, silent and live), communications, coordinating volunteers and seeking donors.
Plan and execute Advancement events and alumni events.
Plan and coordinate with the CSPO Leadership Team and Grade-Level parents on all of their new parent outreach and community events.
Recruit and coordinate volunteers at Congressional School.
Help with carpool and Big School front desk coverage.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field
Fluency with Microsoft Office and relational databases
Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Bidding For Good and/or other development databases
Ability to be highly confidential in handling sensitive personal and institutional information
Excellent organization skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to coordinate and motivate volunteers
Strong customer service skills
Self-starter who can complete projects independently and who can collaborate in a team environment
