The Brimmer and May School, a co-educational day school in Chestnut Hill, MA is seeking a full time Middle and Upper School Spanish teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. The position includes teaching Spanish across grade levels as well as serving as an Upper School advisor. The ideal candidate will have a BA in Spanish, Education, or a related field (Masters preferred), three years of experience, should have a passion for working with students in and outside of the classroom, and will be capable of working with beginning through advanced language learners at the Middle and Upper School levels. A sense of humor and a positive attitude are essential.

Specific Duties/Responsibilities: -Plan and teach two sections of Middle School Spanish 1A
-Plan and teach sections of Spanish 1, 2, and 4
-Plan and teach a section of Introductory Spanish to 5th grade students in rotation with French and Mandarin
-Work collaboratively with the World Languages team and with other departments -Serve as an advisor to 6-8 students in the Upper School -Supervise two study halls a week as well as break and lunch once a week
-Help foster a positive working and educational environment for students and colleagues and support the school’s mission, vision, and values
-Work with students outside of classroom time as needed
General Responsibilities: -Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail -Punctuality and dependability -Adherence to all personal policies, procedures, and rules contained in the Brimmer and May Faculty and Staff Handbooks
This position reports to the World Language Department Chair, the Head of Middle School, and the Head of Upper School
BS/BA in Spanish, MS/MA preferred
