Job Title Innovation Lab Assistant
Division Upper School
Reports to Head of Upper School/Innovation Lab Director
King School is searching for a part-time assistant for its Upper School Innovation Lab. The ideal candidate has exceptional multitasking skills, experience instructing students, and experience fabricating using a wide range of materials and techniques.
Responsibilities and Primary Duties
Help the Director of the Innovation Lab supervise students working during open lab hours.
Assist the Director in training individual students on equipment use.
Facilitate troubleshooting with students as they encounter obstacles in the building process.
Keep the lab organized.
Skills and Requirements
Experience with the following equipment (or similar):
Epilog Laser Cutter
Shopbot desktop CNC
Lulzbot Taz6 3D printers
Ultimaker 3D printers, models 2 and 3
Formlabs 3D Resin printer
Husqvarna Topaz sewing and embroidery machine
Dewalt scroll saw
Titan Vinyl Cutter
HTC Vive VR system
Arduino / Raspberry Pi
Familiarity with software on PC and Mac platforms:
3D Modeling (bonus)
Design or Engineering (preferred)
First Aid and CPR Certification (school will provide)
Bachelor’s Degree, or working towards one (preferred)
Experience in working with students or working in a makerspace.
Knowledge of lab safety and best practices for hazardous materials.
An affinity for students - particularly Middle and Upper School students and a sense of humor.
