International School of Brooklyn seeks a dynamic, hardworking, Middle School Spanish teacher Teacher to teach HISTORY in Spanish for the beginning of the 2019-20 school year.
This position will run from approximately August 21 - September 27.
The ideal candidate is a native Spanish Speaker who understands and enjoys young people (ages 11-14) and is a skilled Spanish teacher with a strong knowledge of history. Other ideal attributes include commitment, patience, positive energy, sense of humor, and clarity.
Description of position
Teach 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade History classes -- IN SPANISH -- (one section of each grade, each of which meets four times per week)
Meet one-on-one with students who need additional help with the Spanish language
Serve as an advisor (homeroom teacher)
Note: the individual will partner with teachers who teach the same courses in English and French, but this position entails teaching the classes in Spanish.
Teaching experience, preferably in the independent school world; experience teaching in an IB school is a plus
Degree in an academic subject, ideally in history
Supportive, student-centered approach and ability to differentiate instruction
Desire to mentor students in an advisory role outside the classroom
Model and promote integrity
