Jackson Walnut Park Schools is a primary school sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph. Located in an historic neighborhood in Newton, JWP features an accredited Montessori early childhood program and a K-6 independent school in the Catholic tradition. Jackson Walnut Park Schools seeks a full-time Director of Advancement for the 2019-2020 school year. The Director of Advancement is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the school’s Development and Communications initiatives. The Director works closely with the head of school and the board of trustees to provide leadership and implementation for the development program as it builds a culture of philanthropy at the school. The Director also develops, coordinates and oversees implementation of a broad, comprehensive, and strategic marketing and branding plan designed to promote enrollment and fundraising.
Broad responsibilities include:
Oversight and coordination of all aspects of the school’s development efforts, with particular emphasis on annual giving and major fundraising events.
Planning for future development efforts, including capital campaign, cultivation of major donors, and creation of strong alumni association
Oversight and coordination of all aspects of the school’s marketing and communications efforts.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant major, with a preference for a master’s degree. She/he will have at least five years prior experience in a comparable position, with a track record of success in advancement initiatives. Independent or private school experience is a plus. Candidates must present well and possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, as well as experience with database and communications/design software. Experience in desktop publishing, web development and/or social media is a plus. Candidates must enjoy working with people and motivating volunteers and colleagues, as well as handling multiple projects simultaneously.
The salary for this position will be competitive with comparable area Catholic schools and commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
