The Calhoun School, a leading progressive, independent, coeducational day school in Manhattan, seeks a full time Lower School - Elementary Coordinator to commence in the Fall of the 2019 - 2020 school year. The LS-E Coordinator supports the daily operations and programs of the LS- Elementary division. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, and will have demonstrated excellence in detail-oriented tasks. Ideally, they will have had success supporting an Academic Office, confidentially maintaining student, parent, and faculty databases, receiving and responding to communication regarding daily life and programs of the school, and coordinating logistics within the office.
The candidate will work closely with all constituencies of the LS-Elementary division and will report to the Director of Lower School - Elementary.
Support office staff
Coordinate communications to LS-E families
Assist with attendance, as needed
Assist with development of parent/teacher conference calendar
Organize materials for opening faculty meetings
Maintaining Schedule for LS-E faculty
Assist with organizing materials for new teacher/mentor meeting
Preparing student/faculty packets for school opening
Preparing student/faculty schedules
Assist with planning of new student orientation
Gather information from faculty about scheduling
Assist with form distribution and data entry for LS-E trips and events
Maintain monthly LS-E credit card statement
Maintain LS-E budgets and processes related to LS-E purchasing (purchase orders, staples card)
Monitor LS-E floor for maintenance and supplies
Monitor Lost and Found bin, periodically donating items to charity.
Coordinate larger repairs or maintenance issues for long breaks with the Facilities Staff (cleaning out spaces, painting, installation of boards, etc.)
Maintain LS-E calendar for trips, assemblies, coverage needs, and other schedule changes (rehearsals, etc.)
Send weekly calendar summary to LS-E faculty
Send daily LS-E announcements
Take & deliver messages for LS-E students & LS-E Director during school day.
Coordinate all LS-E daily subbing needs related to teacher absences, PD, etc.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Coverage of classes when needed
Available to go on any overnight trips, if needed
Other administrative support to ensure efficient LS-E operations
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
1-3 years experience working in an education related setting preferred
4 year undergraduate degree, preferred
