Greenwich Academy seeks talented beginning teachers to serve as associate teachers in our Lower School. The AT Program is a two-year commitment designed for qualified college graduates with liberal arts backgrounds. It provides aspiring teachers the opportunity to teach at Greenwich Academy while pursing graduate studies, offering a combination of practical experience and academic study of education to those interested in teaching. Greenwich Academy partially funds graduate studies.
Associate teachers at Greenwich Academy are welcomed into a collegial, supportive environment, exposed to a variety of effective teaching styles and offered an array of professional development opportunities including seminars, outside speakers and career counseling. AT’s are full participants in the classroom experience. Working as part of a team, they prepare lessons in language arts, mathematics and social studies.
Supported by the faculty, curriculum and philosophy of Greenwich Academy, AT’s gain the experience necessary to develop their own skills before moving on to their own classrooms. Other schools recruit GA associate teachers who have completed this program because of the program's rigorous training and strong philosophical beliefs about what is important in a school community.
Greenwich Academy is looking for candidates dedicated to immersing themselves in school life and in the education of girls. Our faculty believes in student-centered teaching and in teaching that encourages students to learn for the joy of learning. Candidates should be enthusiastic learners themselves and should be eager to teach and learn in an environment dedicated to thoughtful, ongoing diversity work.
