Sidwell Friends School, a Quaker day school with campuses in Washington DC and Bethesda, MD, seeks a long-term substitute for our Lower School Physical Education program (PK-4). The position starts in January 2020 and ends in June 2020.
The Lower School Physical Education program is designed to encourage a lifelong enjoyment of physical pursuits, to build children’s motor development skills and to bring to life our Quaker values of collaboration, teamwork and sportsmanship.
The ideal candidate will have a strong Physical Education background that includes both teaching or coaching elementary and early childhood children. The candidate should have a collaborative spirit, an interest in building community within and beyond the classroom, a strong commitment to nurturing children’s individual talents and passions, and a commitment to our Quaker values.
Additional duties include collaborating with the PE team on a regular basis, supporting the spring Field Day events, and overseeing the upper field recesses. The position begins in January of 2020.
A BM/BS degree in Physical Education (or comparable degree)
Lower School Teaching Experience
This is a full-time substitute position, 8:00 am- 4:00 pm and is located on our Bethesda, MD campus. The position is eligible for benefits from the School.
