Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a Director of Alumni Engagement. Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum. Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.
The Director of Alumni Engagement will develop long-term and mutually beneficial relationships between Calvert School and its alumni community. The position is responsible for strategic management of the alumni program and the Calvert School Alumni Board which is an alumni leadership group tasked with increasing alumni engagement, outreach, participation, and communications.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Serve as the principal staff member to the Alumni Board by assisting the alumni officers in scheduling meetings, preparing meeting agendas, publishing meeting minutes, and overseeing the alumni budget.
Plan and execute the annual schedule of alumni special events and programs, which will include establishing volunteer committees, and will create, plan, and execute the Calvert’s class reunion and online networks and programs.
Manage five to eight regional events annually, identify and cultivate key alumni for event hosting and event committee roles for regional events, manage regional chapters, create follow-up strategies for regional outreach, and maintain an ongoing assessment on the return of investment for the overall regional program.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with three to five years experience in alumni affairs, public relations, fundraising, sales and promotions, or marketing. A Calvert School alumnus is preferred. Candidates must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and must have the ability to work with independence in dealing with the diverse elements of the academic environment. This position requires absolute confidentiality and professionalism and will require evening and weekend hours. Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge a plus.
