Sacred Heart Greenwich is an independent, Catholic day school for girls from kindergarten through grade 12 with a coed preschool and prekindergarten. We are currently seeking a Part-Time Upper/Middle School Assistant Librarian for the 2019-2020 school year.
Position: Upper/Middle School Assistant Librarian PT ? Reports to: Assistant Upper School Head and Library Director FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
The Upper/Middle School Assistant Librarian works in collaboration with the Library Director to serve students and faculty in grades 5 through 12 in accordance with the Goals and Criteria of a Sacred Heart education and the philosophy that implements it. The Librarian has the following responsibilities, working from 12 - 6pm:
Monitor, manage and care for the Library facility, equipment, and furnishings in collaboration with the Library Director and Lower School Librarian
Supervise and assist students and faculty using the library
Supervise the Library during after school hours, including monitoring students, ensuring their safety, and closing the library at the end of the day
Foster a love of literature through displays and readers’ advisory interactions
Process new library materials (books and DVDs)
Maintain periodical collection
Assist in keeping the online catalog current
Assist in inventory and weeding of collection
Shelve books and periodicals
Maintain AV collection, including organization, weeding, check-in and check-out in collaboration with the Library Director
Qualifications: 1-2 years experience working in a library is desired. However, future librarians with an M.L.S. in progress with an interest in library service to young adults are also encouraged to apply. This is an ideal first job experience. Facility with technology, including online databases, library catalogs, and Google Apps is required. A passion for readers’ advisory, literature and books is desired.
