Holy Innocents' Episcopal School is accepting applications for a full-time Chorus Teacher and Collaborative Pianist with a start date of either January 2020 or August 2020, depending on availability to start. Duties include team teaching middle and upper school choral classes, accompanying ensembles and concerts as needed, music directing the MS/US winter musical, preparing ensembles for concerts, participating in GMEA sponsored events, preparing choirs for various HIES community events, organizing field trips as part of the curriculum, and supporting other performing arts programs as needed.
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of various pedagogical philosophies (including, but not limited to Kodaly), and apply appropriate vocal pedagogy for the development of musical skills in adolescents. Candidates should exhibit excellent communication and classroom management skills, be able to direct a select choral ensemble, accompany intermediate-level choral pieces on piano, and possess interpersonal skills conducive to teamwork, team teaching and curriculum building.
Qualified applicants will have degrees in music or music education and experience teaching in the choral classroom. A master’s degree and Georgia teaching certificate are preferred, but not required.
