The Darrow School seeks a creative ESOL Teacher who demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching, is energetic, has an appreciation for individual and cultural differences, an enjoyment in working with young people, and is committed to being fully engaged in a boarding school community. This person will teach two to three ESOL courses and/or sheltered-content courses for English language learners, and collaborate with colleagues in choosing materials and designing curricula. Candidates should have a degree in TESOL or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred, but not required
We are looking for people with a proven track record of actively collaborating with teens to solve problems. Our college-preparatory curriculum engages students in all types of subject matter through discussion inside the classroom, and direct experience outside the classroom, where they conduct experiments, perform project-based assignments, and use the Darrow environment as a living laboratory. Supported by our expert faculty, Darrow students actively participate in their own education.
Bachelor’s degree in the discipline you wish to teach; advanced degree preferred (state certification not required).
Candidates should have a degree in TESOL or a related field.
Ability to coach one or more sport and/or lead an afternoon program
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with all stakeholders, including administration, faculty, parents and students
Valid driver’s license
Experience in a residential program for adolescents
Good communication skills, both oral and written
