Laurence School is seeking an experienced Business Office Assistant, who, under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and his assistant, will be responsible for all aspects of AR & AP for both the School and the Parent Association. The position requires a highly organized and detail-oriented person, with excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of confidentiality and discretion.

Overview of Responsibilities:
Receive invoices and code and post them to the correct GL Account, prepare Accounts Payable, disbursements, mail checks, and file backups in the vendor file (the full accounts payable cycle);
Handle accounting for the major Parent Association events, including the Spring Event, Holiday Boutique, Golf Tournament, and others;
Work at after-hours School and Parent Association events, including the Holiday Boutique, Open House, and other events as assigned;
All aspects of Student and other AR accounts, including, but not limited to, billing and collection;
Respond to billing inquiries from parents and assist them with related accounting needs;
Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned in support of the CFO or School Accountant;
Interact professionally with all School departments serviced by the Business Office;
Assist in the front office (answering telephone, faxing, making copies, etc.).
Assist CFO and the Business Office in preparation for the Annual Audit, preparing audit lead schedules.
Skills and Experience Required
BA degree in Accounting or related subjects is a MUST.
Broad knowledge of and proficiency in Excel is a MUST.
3-5 years of professional experience, with at least 3 years of progressive, hands-on accounting experience at a non-profit organization.
Highly experienced with QuickBooks and willingness to learn other accounting software.
Skilled with additional Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and PowerPoint.
Must be accurate and efficient, high energy, and comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
