Bertschi School, founded in 1975, is a Washington State approved elementary school. We are an accredited by the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS), and we are members of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). The school serves children from pre-kindergarten through grade five.
Extended Day Program
Extended Day teachers are expected to work at the direction of the Extended Day Director in accordance with the job description below.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Communicate regularly with Extended Day Director and teaching faculty to plan programming and best meet student needs together
Create an engaging after school program for children in Grades 1-5
Participate and supervise students on half-day and full-day field trips
Plan and lead daily activities for groups of children in Grades 1-5
Attend weekly staff meetings
Be an active and enthusiastic member of the Extended Day team
School-wide Program Responsibilities
Support children's individual needs
Help children with organization, problem solving, and conflict resolution
Communicate professionally and effectively with parents, teachers, administrators and colleagues
Engage in on-going self-assessment and working toward own professional goals
Assist with fall classroom set up and spring clean up
Stay abreast of school wide information by reading the Bertschi portal and other communication tools
Adhere to guidelines, procedures, and policies in the Employee Handbook
Attend required in-service days, meetings, and training sessions as designated
An interest and experience in working with elementary age children
Creativity, enthusiasm and patience
Ability to work as part of a team
Consistency in attendance
A professional desire to work in a school and develop or continue to develop your teaching skills
