Admissions Play Visit Teachers play a critical role in the process of observing and interpreting the cognitive, non-cognitive, physical, and creative capacities of children applying to prekindergarten and kindergarten. We seek candidates who are passionate, innovative, energetic, and positive. GDS opened its doors in 1945 as the first integrated school in a segregated city. Primary responsibilities include:
Setting up play visit centers on our Lower/Middle School campus
Greeting prospective families in the school lobby and escorting children to and from the Play Visit space
Facilitating Play Visits and evaluating prekindergarten and kindergarten readiness with individuals and small groups of children
Engaging with individual and small groups of children
Completing student visit observation and assessment forms immediately following the Play Visit

Experience working with preschool children (Ages 3-5 years old)
Demonstrated understanding of young childhood development
Degree in early childhood education preferred
Experience as an early childhood educator preferred
