Bank Street School for Children is an Upper West Side independent school for children from nursery through grade 8. We provide students with an education that engages natural curiosity, nurtures critical thinking skills, and helps develop a sense of community and social responsibility. As a substitute teacher to the first through fourth grade, you will be a vital team member in supporting our school’s community and goals.
Qualifications Teaching experience with children in first through fourth grade required Bachelor’s Degree preferred Experience engaging a social justice lens preferred Must enjoy working with children and have flexibility Fluency in Spanish preferred
Responsibilities Following the lesson plans left by the teacher Collaborating with other colleagues and educators in support of the children Instructing assigned classes at designated locations and times Establishing and maintaining a safe environment that is conducive to learning Helping with set up, clean up, and some possible clerical work Accompanying students to and from classes (sometimes taking multiple flights of stairs) Supervising lunch and/or recess
Substitutes specializing in Music, PE, Art, Wood Shop, Spanish, Library, and Movement are also needed.
Free lunch is always provided and our cafeteria offers options for a range of dietary needs.
SALARY $125 per day HOURS 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM STARTING DATE September 2019
