Oxbridge Academic Programs has run academic summer study programs in the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and the United States, for over 30 years. Adventurous and ambitious teenagers join our programs from all over the world. Last summer, over 80 countries were represented. Different programs cater to different grades. While the start-dates vary slightly, most programs occupy the month of July. Administrative staff arrive in residence one week before the students, and remain for two days after they leave.
Program Deans are principally responsible for the pastoral side of their program. They provide the students with care, guidance, and supervision; and they maintain our rules and policies, and administer disciplinary procedures when necessary. Deans also have administrative duties. They help run their Program Office as part of a team. The Office is a hub for students, parents, and all members of staff. Deans also support the Program Director in everything from residential matters to field trips. Deans work in shifts daily, and are on-call day and night. When not on duty, Deans are a positive, engaged presence on their program - dining in the residence, available in an emergency, involved with student activities, contributing to their program's community, and ensuring everything runs smoothly in the broadest sense.
We are looking for Deans to work in the United Kingdom (Oxford and Cambridge), France (Paris and Montpellier), Spain (Barcelona and Salamanca), and the United States (New York, Boston, and Los Angeles). Applicants who apply to work in France or Spain must be fluent in French or Spanish, as well as in English, and have experience of living in France or Spain. All applicants should be currently employed in middle and/or high schools.
The most important thing for applicants is to love working with young people. Our Deans have to be enthusiastic educators with a good sense of humor, and a solid work ethic that enables them constantly to engage with students and colleagues in a way that enriches their program. We have a large number of international (non-North American) students, and so we particularly welcome applications from those with experience of travel, or of teaching overseas.
The salary for first year Program Deans (who work on our month-long programs) is $4285 US. In addition to their salary, Program Deans receive flights to and from the program, room and board on site, and a generous stipend for personal expenses. To apply, please send a CV and a brief cover letter as PDF attachments to <email@example.com>. The deadline to apply is Monday, November 25th, 2019. Due to the high number of applications we receive only candidates selected for a first-round interview (conducted via Skype) will be contacted.
Must be currently employed in a middle school or high school
