The Calhoun School, a leading progressive, independent, coeducational day school in Manhattan,
seeks a temporary full time Admissions Officer to commence immediately through June, 2020.
The Admissions Officer will report to the Director of Enrollment & External Relationships and be part of a team of enthusiastic ambassadors who represent the school to the broader public.
Communicate Calhoun’s mission and program effectively to parents, students and educators in person, on the phone and through email.
Enter and manipulate data in our Filemaker Pro database.
Organize, manage and track physical and electronic candidate files
Schedule tours and interviews and coordinate schedules for multiple constituencies.
Lead school tours, interview prospective families and support in-house admissions events
Communicate Calhoun’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion work to prospective families
Participate in the life of Calhoun and build relationships with teachers, parents and students

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Temporary Admissions Officer must be available to attend events throughout the year—during the day, evenings and occasionally, on weekends-- to successfully promote the school and its mission.
SUCCESS FACTORS/JOB COMPETENCIES
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in person, on the phone and through email
Ability to engage effectively and positively with students (age 2-18), families and educators
Ability to organize, prioritize and complete tasks with attention to accuracy, detail and deadlines
Ability to complete tasks independently
Experience with data entry and database management
Experience as a contributing member of a fast-paced, collaborative professional environment
Experience managing multiple schedules
Proficiency in Spanish or languages other than English
Experience working in school admissions, communications, placement or administrative office
